Lander University

Dr. Walter G. Bishop, Sr. (deceased) served Lander as College Physician for 20 years and as Athletic Team Physician for 15 years. Dr. Bishop was the county doctor for Greenwood County for 30 years and he served the people of Grenwood and the surrounding area for 51 years. An endowed scholarship was established at Lander in 1986 by friends and family to honor the memory of Dr. Bishop and his dedicated commitment to Lander, its students, and its student athletes. Inducted 1999.
