Dr. James Cheezem (deceased), a Greenwood orthopedic surgeon, provided medical care for Lander athletes for 30 years (1968-98). In 1992, he was named Lander's athletic medical coordinator. A native of Fayetteville, N.C., Cheezem completed his pre-med curriculum at the University of Tennessee and his medical degree and orthopedic residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. He moved to Greenwood in 1963. He is a past president of the South Carolina Orthopedists, a member of Main Street Methodist Church, and a longtime trustee of The Museum. Inducted 2001.
