Dr. Mel Wimmer (deceased), a Greenwood dentist, cared for the dental needs of Lander athletes from 1968-97. Born in Memphis, Tenn., Wimmer graduated from The Citadel and served two years in the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he completed his medical training at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He was one of the first members of Lander's original athletics booster organization, the Senators Club, serving as president for one term. He is a member of the Fellowship of the Academy of General Dentistry, an active participant in regional theatre productions, and a member of Greenwood's First Baptist Church. Inducted 2001.
