Week in review

The No. 17 Lander men’s soccer took down Georgia Southwestern 3-0 in the PBC semifinals. The Bearcats saw goals from Max Bolton, Rob Dymond and Marco Gueli while Lorenzo Ferrari recorded a shutout with a two-save performance in goal.

What's On Tap

The Bearcats host Flagler in the PBC Finals on Sunday, November 6. Lander went 1-1-0 against the Saints in the regular season with each team winning on its home field. 

Week in review

The Bearcats opened up the PBC Championship with a 2-0 win over USC Aiken. Mary Moosbrugger and Maren White each scored goals Lander.  The win moved the Bearcats into the semifinals for the second-straight year, where they fell to 4th ranked and top-seeded Columbus State 3-1.

Week in review

The Bearcats went 2-0 last week, locking up at least a second place finish in the conference and a chance to still win the league. On Friday Lander dominated Georgia College 3-0 on Senior Night.  Saturday, the team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Young Harris 3-2.

Lander hits the road tomorrow in their regular season finale as they travel to take on Augusta in a battle for first place in the Conference. Then the Bearcats will turn their attention to the PBC Championship beginning next week.

The Lander Men’s Rugby team had a week off after their emotional 32-26 senior day win over rival The Citadel. They will return to action this Saturday as they travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to face North Carolina. That game is scheduled to kick at 10:00 AM.The game was a back and forth affair that never saw either team hold a lead of more than one score. Max Smith would find Carey Cortes for the game winning try on what would be Lander’s last possession of the game.

The Women’s rugby team concluded its fall season with a 55-7 victory over Clemson.    

Last time out

The Lander Field Hockey team went 2-1 last week. On Tuesday, the Bearcats held the #7 team in the country scoreless through regulation but would fall in overtime to Converse. On Thursday, Lander would avenge their overtime loss to Newberry the previous week as Sophie Schmitz would contribute to all three goals, scoring two and assisting on one, to give the Bearcats the 3-2 win over the Wolves. Then on Saturday, the Bearcats won consecutive conference games for the first time in program history as Schmitz would add two more goals in Lander’s 2-0 win over Wingate.

Field Hockey will begin their second to last week of the regular season by welcoming Coker to Greenwood on Tuesday for a 7:00 PM start time. The Bearcats will also honor senior, Kelsey Gibbons, after the game. Then they will travel to face conference leader and tenth-ranked Mount Olive on Saturday for a 1:00 PM start time.

Last time out

Men’s golf finished sixth at the McCoy-Wright Currahee Invite on Oct. 24-25. The Bearcats shot 884 (300+291+293) with Linus Jonsson leading the team to tie for fourth with a one-under-par performance. Gaston Edberg also finished in the top-15, shooting three-over-par through three rounds.

Lander’s JV team will be competing in the UNG Fall Invitational in Dahlonega, Ga. on Oct. 31-Nov. 1.

After two weeks off, #19 Women’s golf returns to the green this week for the Rollins Legends Invitational on Oct. 31-Nov. 1 in Bradenton, Fla. A second team will be competing on the same dates at the Converse Fall Women’s Invite at Spartanburg, S.C.

The Lander Cross Country teams will take part in the PBC Cross Country Championships this Saturday at Radcliffe Plantation State Park in Beech Island, S.C. That race will be hosted by Augusta. The men’s race will start at 9:00 AM and the women's will start at approximately 9:45 AM.
