LePore Annouces Coaching Staff Changes

Lander University men's lacrosse and Head Coach Anthony LePore have announced several staff updates heading into the fall of 2024 for the back-to-back PBC Champion Men's Lacrosse Program.

First is the hiring of Alex Williams to the Bearcat staff as an Assistant Coach.  Williams comes to Greenwood from Albany, NY where he served as head coach at The College of Saint Rose from July of 2021 until the school's closure this past June.  In three seasons, Williams mentored 11 All-NE10 Selections, 4 All-NE10 Academic All-Conference selections, the 2023 Rookie of the Year (Noah Gibson), and earned the 2024 USILA Div. II Academic Team Award for the Highest GPA in Division II Men's Lacrosse.  Prior to his time at Saint Rose, Williams also served as an assistant coach at both Frostburg State University and Roberts Wesleyan College.

"I cannot put into words how excited we are to welcome Coach Williams to Greenwood," said LePore. "We are so fortunate to have a true professional join our staff who has this type of experience and success at the Division II level.  I know Coach Williams will make an immediate impact on our program and both myself, our staff, and our players are genuinely grateful for the opportunity to work with a coach of his caliber."

The Bearcats are also pleased to announce the addition of Quinn Ingalls to the Bearcat staff as a Graduate Assistant Coach and Sumner Bishop as an Assistant Coach.  Ingalls, a five-time team captain and two-time all-PBC selection appeared in 64 career games for the Bearcats, posting 56 goals and 33 assists.  Coming to Greenwood by way of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Ingalls will be pursuing his Masters of Business Administration at Lander.   Bishop, also a five-time team captain holds the record for career games started as a Bearcat (67) and is tied for most career games played (67), while anchoring the Bearcat defense over the past five seasons.  A native of Boiling Springs, SC, Bishop will also be completing his Masters of Business Administration at Lander. Bishop replaces Adam Wiedemann on the coaching staff.

Serving as the Graduate Assistant Coach for the past two seasons, Wiedemann recently graduated with his Master's in Business Administration from Lander.  A three-time All American at Belmont Abbey College, Wiedemann plays professionally for the Georgia Swarm of the National Lacrosse League and helped mentor the Bearcat offense over the past two seasons.

"First, I would like to take a moment to thank Coach Wiedemann for his enthusiasm and service to our program over the past 2 years," said LePore. "His impact on our players and program will be lasting and his passion for lacrosse is second to none.  He gave us his very best every single day and we are all grateful for him.  Secondly, I think I speak for all our players and alumni when we express how excited we are to add two alumni to our coaching staff.  Quinn and Sumner were exemplary captains, outstanding players, and have a deep passion for Lander Lacrosse.  I know they will make a smooth transition from the field to the sidelines."
