GREENWOOD – On a chilly day playing under overcast skies, Lander men's lacrosse dropped a back-and-forth contest at home to Belmont Abbey on Wednesday, 15-13.
The Bearcats (4-6) were behind 4-1 in the first quarter but found their footing and tied it at 6 with 10:08 left in the second quarter.
Belmont Abbey (6-3, 2-0 Conference Carolinas) led 8-7 at halftime.
Lander tied it again at 9, 10 and 11 before grabbing its first lead of the game on
Carson Skinner's man-advantage score right before the end of the third which made it 12-11.
The Crusaders tied it at 12 at the outset of the fourth quarter.
Vince Rappold restored a 13-12 lead for LU with 10 minutes left in the game.
Lander held that lead until the Crusaders evened it back up with 5:27 remaining. BAC added two more goals over the next two minutes to seal it.
Skinner led the Bearcats with his second five-point day this month on three goals and two assists.
Matt Duarte had a goal and two assists and
Josh Rosa found two scores.

Drew DeGeorge tallied his first career goal and assist today – the goal came in the third quarter, the assist during the second.
The Bearcats open Peach Belt Conference action this weekend with a Saturday game against Virginia State at 1 p.m. from Van Taylor Stadium.
