GREENWOOD – The Lander men's lacrosse team went tit for tat with UIndy at Van Taylor Stadium for the majority of Saturday afternoon's game, but the Greyhounds pulled away in the fourth quarter when the Bearcats hit an untimely dry spell, losing 16-8.
Lander is 4-5 with one game remaining before Peach Belt Conference play. UIndy improved to 4-2.
The Greyhounds held a 4-1 lead after the first quarter. Lander scored three in a row to open the second quarter, tying it at 4.
UIndy returned the favor and was up 7-4 at halftime.
Sean Reilly scored a man-up goal 23 seconds into the second half on a slashing penalty that carried over between halves.
Michael Mattaliano brought the Bearcats within 7-6 with 9:28 until the fourth.
Each side scored twice more during the third – Lander tied it at 8 – as UIndy went into the final quarter ahead 9-8.
The Greyhounds scored seven straight for the final score.
