TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Up the road at Pepsi Stadium on Wednesday night, the Lander men's lacrosse team was unable to overcome a first-quarter hole against North Greenville and lost 20-13.
The Trailblazers (5-3) rattled off 10 goals in the opening frame and led 12-5 by halftime.
Lander (4-4) fell behind 5-0 3:41 into the game.
Sean Reilly, who scored twice tonight, stopped the momentum briefly on an unassisted goal.
NGU expanded its lead to 8-1 and ended the quarter up 10-2.
Max Porterfield replaced
Jimmy Moxley in goal for the next three quarters and made 10 saves for a .500 save percentage.
Also scoring multiple goals for the Bearcats this evening were
Luke Aspnes,
Matt Duarte and
Carson Skinner, all with two.
Cameron and
Mitchell Festi scored as well – it was Mitchell's first career goal – as did
Chase Hanson,
Brandon Perkins and
Vince Rappold.
Mitchell Festi added three caused turnovers and four ground balls in a well-rounded stat line.
Colton Davis won 10 of the 17 face-offs he was responsible for.
The Bearcats make their return to Greenwood for the first time since Feb. 20 this Saturday, March 14 in a 1:00 game versus UIndy.
