AUGUSTA, Ga. – After his career day on Saturday versus Lincoln Memorial, Matt Duarte of the Lander men's lacrosse team was selected this week's Peach Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Duarte, a redshirt sophomore in his first season with the Bearcats, scored seven goals against the Railsplitters as LU improved to 2-0 in a 19-11 win. Those seven goals are the second-most a Bearcat has ever scored in a single game (Adam Mather in 2021 and Kyle DeCrispino in 2023 had eight-goal games).

Duarte now has nine goals through the first two games of the season which slots him into fourth place in the conference – in half the games the leaders have played in.

The Bearcats are back in action this Wednesday (Feb. 18) at Emmanuel (Ga.) in a 5:00 contest. They return to Van Taylor Stadium on Saturday (Feb. 21) for a matchup against Young Harris at 1.
