MARTINEZ, Ga. - The Lander men's lacrosse team earned numerous accolades as the Peach Belt Conference All-Conference team was announced Thursday.
Senior Adam Mather and head coach Anthony LePore headlined the awards with the Offensive Player of The Year and Coach of The Year honors.
Mather has been named the PBC Offensive Player of The Year in back-to-back seasons. The Cincinnati, Ohio., native is first in points with 62 after scoring 35 goals and adding 27 assists. Mather has also caused 12 turnovers this season and collected 24 ground balls. He led the Peach Belt with 4.13 points per game, was second in assists per game and fifth in goals per game. Named the PBC Player of the Week on March 27, he scored in all but two of the 15 games he played in and provided points in each one. He scored multiple goals nine times, including a season-high six against Alabama-Huntsville.
Coach LePore was named Co-Coach of The Year as he lead his squad to its first-ever regular season title in program history. This is the first time LePore has been named the PBC Coach of The Year.
Lander has posted back-to-back seasons with at least 11 wins with LePore leading the way and have posted an overall record of 32-17 under his guidance. With an 11-4 overall record, Lander has received votes in the last five USILA national polls. Lander leads the PBC in goals, assists and shots per game.
LePore's Bearcats have earned two PBC Offensive Player of The Year awards, one Defensive Player of The Year award, one Freshman of The Year award, two Elite 16 awards and numerous All-PBC team selections.
Logan Ellis won the Elite 16 award for the second straight season. The Elite 16 award is traditionally presented to the player with the highest overall cumulative GPA competing in the conference tournament.
Alongside Mather, James Linn, Carter Wilcox and Nicholas Paige were named to the All-Conference First Team.
Linn currently leads the Bearcats in caused turnovers with 21 this season. He also has a goal and one point along with 27 ground balls. Linn caused his 50th career caused turnover earlier this season and became the first Bearcats to record 20 or more caused turnovers in a season.
Wilcox, who was named the PBC Freshman of The Year last season, was fourth in scoring and points. Wilcox finished with 20 goals, 20 assists and 40 points. He also collected 20 ground balls and caused four turnovers.
Paige turned in an incredible season in the cage. Playing in 14 games and starting 12, he went 9-3 in his first season as the primary starter. Playing in over 597 minutes in the regular season, Paige made 135 saves and recorded a PBC-best 10.05 GAA.
Kyle DeCrispino was named to the All-Conference Second Team.
The Mount St. Mary's transfer led the Bearcats in scoring with 42 goals and added 13 assists and 55 points this season. DeCrispino added four game-winning goals, 31 ground balls and caused eight turnovers this season. He started the season with six goals against Mount Olive while recording a season-high eight against Barton.
Lander will take on the winner of Alabama-Huntsville and Young Harris, who play at 5 pm on April 28, on April 30.
