ROCK HILL, S.C. - The South Atlantic Conference announced today that
Isabel Elenga has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Defensive Player of the Week for thr second time this season.
Elenga earned the honor earlier this season earlier this month on October 3rd.
The Hillegom, Netherlands native earns the honor after her stellar performance over the weekend against two nationally ranked opponents in #3 Kutztown and #8 Millersville. Against the Golden Bears, Elenga recorded a career-high 13 saves and helped keep an offense that scored over 3.5 goals per game to just two. Against the Marauders, she recorded four saves to keep the score close and allow Lander to secure their first ever win over a ranked foe in overtime.
The Lander Field Hockey team is back at home tomorrow as they host the Newberry Wolves in a game that will go a long way to determine who will get the second and final bye in the upcoming South Atlantic Conference Tournament. That game is scheduled to start at 6:00 PM at Frank Hill Stadium.
