GREENWOOD, S.C. – Lander University head volleyball coach Jeff Reynolds today announced the signing of NJCAA First-team All-American, Annie Holesinger. Holesinger is a mid-year transfer and will enroll at Lander beginning spring semester 2022.
Holesinger helped lead Grand Rapids C.C. to two MCCAA championships during her three years at GRCC, including a Great Lakes District title and a fifth-place finish at the 2019 NJCAA National Championship Tournament during her freshman season. Under the direction of head coach Chip Will, Holesinger helped lead the Raiders to a 67-21 (.761) record over the past three seasons.
"Annie is a driven winner," Reynolds said. "In addition to being a really good volleyball player, Annie has an insatiable desire to win. She is a competitor in every sense of the word and will bring that competitive fire to our program. She also brings three years of collegiate volleyball experience to our program which cannot be understated in terms of understanding the game and level of competition, as well as the maturity factor. Annie is also a versatile player who has the ability to play a couple different positions for us. We couldn't be more excited to have her join us in January and have the opportunity to work with our program for an entire semester before our next season begins."
As a sophomore, the 6-1 middle blocker earned NJCAA First-team All-America honors, was named the Western Conference Player of the Year, selected to the Great Lakes All-Region team, earned First-team All-Western Conference and All-MCCAA honors after leading GRCC with 346 kills. She averaged 4.04 kills per set and led the team with 73 blocks on the season. During the 2021 season, the native of Rockford, Mich., posted a career-high 24 kills against Muskegon C.C. and eight blocks against Lake Michigan College.
Holesinger prepped at NorthPointe Christian where she was a four-year letter winner, a two-time Division-III All-State performer, a three-time All-Region recipient and a three-time First-team All-Conference performer. She helped lead the Mustangs to conference, district and regional championships, along with an appearance in the Michigan State quarterfinals as a senior. During her high school career, she recorded over 1,000 kills and 500 digs, including 576 kills, 212 digs, 22 blocks, and 86 aces during her senior season.
"I chose Lander because I instantly feel I love with the campus," Holesinger said. "I knew as soon as I stepped foot in the gym that this would be my new home. I loved the girls and I connected with Coach Reynolds very easily. All around it's the perfect fit for me and I couldn't be more excited."
Holesinger is the daughter of Jon and Brenda Holesinger of Rockford, Mich.
