Lander Rolls Past USC Aiken for Sixth Straight Win

AIKEN, S.C. - Lander volleyball continued its midseason surge Saturday afternoon, earning its second straight sweep over USC Aiken to take the regular season series 2-1. The Bearcats' 3-0 (26-24, 25-18, 25-17) victory inside the Convocation Center marked their fifth consecutive Peach Belt Conference win and sixth straight overall.

The Bearcats (14-7, 6-3 PBC) carried Friday night's momentum into Saturday's matchup, using balance and consistency across all phases to control play. After a back-and-forth opening set that featured 12 ties, Lander closed strong with a late push to take the frame 26-24.

From there, the Bearcats' offense settled in—hitting .343 in the second set and .206 for the match—while their defense tightened up to limit the Pacers (10-12, 3-6) to a .076 attack percentage.

Katie Miller led Lander once again, recording a double-double with 13 kills, 13 digs, and two aces. Ryleigh Willard followed with 10 kills and two blocks, while Alyssa Tegeler added seven kills on .286 hitting.

Setter Enisilina Savelio guided the offense with 33 assists and nine digs, and Amelia May anchored the net defensively with five total blocks. Libero Emmi Cheek led the defense with 14 digs in three sets played.

Lander finished with the upper hand in nearly every category, recording 43 kills to Aiken's 28 and 49 digs to the Pacers' 35. The Bearcats also delivered eight service aces compared to just one for USC Aiken, keeping steady pressure throughout the match.

With the victory, Lander has now won six straight matches and sits firmly in the top half of the Peach Belt standings as the regular season enters its final stretch. The Bearcats will look to keep their streak going when they return home next week for another key conference matchup.

Lander returns to Finis Horne Arena on Friday, Oct. 31, and Saturday, Nov. 1, to host Georgia College and State University. The Bearcats aim to avenge an earlier loss to the Bobcats, with first serve Friday scheduled for 6 p.m.
