GREENWOOD----The USC Aiken volleyball team held of a furious, game-four rally Wednesday night to defeat Lander, 3-1, in a Peach Belt Conference game in Horne Arena. The Pacers won, 30-26, 30-24, 27-30, 30-27.
USC Aiken, the preseason PBC favorite, improves to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in the PBC, while Lander drops to 11-3, 0-1.
Kay Stewart led the Bearcat attack with a game-high 21 kills, while Kerri Sorensen added 15 kills and 10 digs. Sara Senn had a team-high 28 assists to go along with 16 digs and Candace LaRocca added 26 assists and 14 digs. Melissa Trippany led Lander in digs with 21.
For USCA, Mandy Gerolstein had a team-high 19 kills as Stefanie Durham and Amanda Timm added 12 and 11 respectively. Durham also had 26 digs and Timm 10. Lauren Cedeno dished out a game-high 50 assists and had seven digs, while Veronica Seidle had a game-high 27 digs. Missy Deardorff had 17 digs and eight kills.
