Lander Beats IUP 1-0 for Fifth Straight Win

INDIANA, Pa. – Senior forward Lauren Punt scored in the 23rd minute and goalkeeper Isabel Elenga made four saves as the eighth-ranked Lander field hockey team defeated Indiana University of Pennsylvania, 1-0, on a rainy Tuesday afternoon at Miller Stadium. The Bearcats (5-0) extended their best start in program history while recording their first shutout of the season.

Lander controlled play early, outshooting IUP 5-1 in the opening half. Punt provided the breakthrough late in the second quarter, cleaning up a rebound after a shot from Dusty-Rose Miller to tally her team-leading second goal of the season and 17th of her career.

The Crimson Hawks threatened after halftime, earning eight penalty corners across the final 30 minutes, but the Bearcat defense held firm. Elenga turned away all four shots she faced, including a key stop in the 56th minute, to secure her 22nd career win and first shutout of 2025.

Lander outshot IUP 7-4 while each side registered four saves.

The Bearcats return home Saturday for a top-10 South Atlantic Conference matchup against fourth-ranked Newberry. Pushback is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Frank Hill Stadium
