KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Four Bearcats from the Lander men's soccer team were announced as All-Southeast Region performers by United Soccer Coaches, adding to the trio of Bearcats tabbed D2CCA All-Southeast Region members last month.
Ryosuke Tanaka and
Christian Hatley were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region First Team, and
Charlie Bell and
Callum Stokes were named to the Second Team.
Tanaka was also named to the All-Peach Belt Conference First Team last month after a campaign that saw him score five goals while adding three assists for 13 points. Additionally, Tanaka was named the PBC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 27.
Tanaka played in all 18 games for the Blue and Gold this season, starting 16 of them. Four of his goals came during PBC action which helped the Bearcats to the No. 2 seed in the postseason tournament.
Hatley, this year's PBC Offensive Player of the Year and All-PBC First Team selection, was previously named to the D2CCA All-Southeast Region First Team.
The senior led Lander with 27 points this season thanks to his team-leading 13 assists that he paired with seven goals. Hatley's assist tally was tied for second nationally, and his points mark was in the top 30 (T27th).
Hatley recorded multi-goal games against North Georgia (Sept. 17) and Middle Georgia (Sept. 20) in addition to a five-assist game against Georgia Southwestern on Oct. 4.
Bell adds to his D2CCA All-Southeast Region Second Team nod, as well as his All-PBC First Team selection.
Bell was the anchor of a Bearcat defense that produced five shutouts this season, including one of the 3-0 variety in the PBC quarterfinals against Middle Georgia. He also tallied an assist on the lone goal in a 1-0 road win versus Lee back on Oct. 11.
Stokes was named to the D2CCA All-Southeast Region First Team, All-PBC First Team, and was a PBC Offensive Player of the Week winner and a D2CIDA National Player of the Week recipient in early November.
He was third on the team with 15 points (10th-most in the conference) and tied for the second-most goals on the team with seven (T5th in the PBC). Stokes registered his first career hat-trick against then-No. 19 North Georgia on Oct. 29.
