Field Hockey Lands Four on All-Conference Team

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The seventh-ranked Lander Field Hockey team placed four players on the All–South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Team, the league announced Thursday afternoon ahead of Friday's SAC Tournament Semifinals.

Seniors Victoria Hulst and Isabel Elenga along with sophomore Olivia Bond were named to the First Team, while junior Leira Van Tilburg earned Second Team honors.

Elenga and Van Tilburg each collected their third career all-conference selections, while Hulst earned her second and Bond received her first.

Hulst anchored a Lander backline that posted a program-record eight shutouts and held opponents to just 0.87 goals per game, the lowest mark in team history. The Dutch defender also contributed offensively with eight goals and two assists (18 points), ranking third on the team, and tied for the conference lead with five game-winning goals.

Elenga, a senior goalkeeper, finished with a 0.74 goals-against average, sixth-best nationally, and recorded two solo shutouts as part of Lander's defensive core that allowed only 13 goals in 17 games.

Bond tied for the team lead in points (20) with eight goals and four assists in her sophomore campaign. The Owings, Md., native ranked 36th nationally in goals per game and 37th in points per game, helping the Bearcats' offense average nearly three goals per game (2.88).

Van Tilburg earned her third consecutive all-conference nod after contributing two goals and four assists while leading the team in shots-on-goal percentage (.767). The junior midfielder was a consistent playmaker, helping Lander generate a program-record 174 penalty corners this season.

The Bearcats (14-3) have won a program-record 14 games this year and will face No. 2 seed Belmont Abbey in the SAC Tournament Semifinals on Friday at 5 p.m. at Newberry's Setzler Field.
