Fuel Leads Bearcat Women in Debut at Eye Opener

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Carly Fuel ran a 20:08 to place 57th and lead the Lander Women's Cross Country Team to a 13th-place finish at the Eye Opener Invitational. Lander placed 6th amongst the Division II teams competing. Fellow Palmetto State Institution, Clemson took the meet win, just edging out Furman by a point.

Kayla Barnhardt was next across the line, completing the five-kilometer course in 20:49 before Rachel Schenck and Hanna Martin came across in times of 22:09 and 22:25 respectively. Madeline Beal rounded out the Lander scoring five with a time of 23:38.

Kiersten Thatcher and Sofia Reihman rounded out the potential tiebreaking sixth and seventh spots for the Blue and Gold. Thatcher ran 23:50 while Reihman ran 24:08.

The Bearcats return to the course on Friday, September 13th as they take part in the UNG XC Invitational in Gainesville, Ga.
