GAINESVILLE, Ga. -
Noah Chevalier and
Jonathan Nunez placed ninth and tenth at the UNG XC Invitational, the first duo to place in the top-ten in any non-dual race since the program was reinstated, as the Lander Men's Cross Country placed fourth on Friday evening. Oglethorpe won the meet with a team score of 18, three shy of a perfect score.
The Bearcats finished with an average time of 28:43, almost 30 seconds faster than the team's average last week at Eye Opener.
Chevalier led the Bearcats with a personal record time of 27:35, 13 seconds faster than his previous PR set last week. Nunez finished with a time of 27:57 to round out the top-ten in the race.
Natheer Suied and
Seth Hammon finished 19th and 20th with the exact same time of 29:02, that time being a PR for Hammon.
Ethan Waites rounded out the scoring five for Lander, breaking the 30-minute mark for the first time in his career with a time of 29:59.
Evan Winsdor and
Trey Sloan were the sixth and seventh men across the line, both with PR times. Winsdor ran 31:11 while Sloan ran 32:19.
Jonathan Dedesma (34:39) made his college debut while
Jude Dill (35:52) and
Luke Erskine (35:57) each ran PRs.
The Bearcats will have a week off before running in the Akiah McMillan Invitational at Columbia College on September 28th. Start time for the eight-kilometer race is 9:00 AM.
