Lander Places Eighth at Spartan Classic

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Lander men's cross country team placed eighth at the Spartan Classic on Friday evening, hosted by UNC Greensboro.

Junior Noah Chevalier once again paced the Bearcats, finishing 31st overall in 28:14.0. It marked his second straight meet as Lander's top finisher.

Jonathan Cummings and Griffin Freeman crossed next for the Blue and Gold, finishing within a second of each other. Cummings ran 29:27.6, followed by Freeman in 29:28.2. Seth Hammon and Ethan Waites rounded out the scoring five in 30:14.4 and 30:15.6, respectively.

The Bearcats posted a 1–5 average of 29:32.

Austin Lewis notched a new personal best with a time of 31:14.3, while Cooper Mayo ran 31:40.1. Aaron Cameron (33:56.7) and Trey Sloan (35:48.4) completed the lineup for Lander.

The Bearcats return to action on Friday, Oct. 10, at the Royals XC Challenge at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C.
