Cummings Leads Bearcats at Royals XC Challenge

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Jonathan Cummings turned in his fastest race of the season, clocking 27:54.10 to lead the Lander men's cross country team at the Royals XC Challenge on Friday afternoon at McAlpine Creek Park.

Lander placed 13th overall in the Blue Division of the meet, which was won by Southern Wesleyan.

Griffin Freeman followed in 28:40.6, while Seth Hammon (29:06.9) and Ethan Waites (29:11.1) came across shortly after. Bryan Wright rounded out the scoring five in 29:36.9 in his season debut.

Cooper Mayo (29:54.2), Adam Bedenbaugh (30:24.1), Aaron Cameron (31:02.4), Austin Lewis (31:31.2), and Benjamin Carroll (31:42.0) completed the lineup for the Bearcats in the Blue Division.

In the Gold Division, Noah Chevalier posted a time of 28:16.76.

The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, Oct. 25, at the Peach Belt Conference Championship hosted by Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Ga.
