GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Lander men's cross country team opened the 2026 season with a fifth-place finish at the Furman Invitational on Saturday, while three Bearcats finished under the previous Lander 6K school record.

Noah Larkin led Lander with a 34th-place finish in 20:03.79, while Jonathan Cummings was right behind in 35th at 20:06.17. Adam finished 43rd in 20:28, with all three runners finishing under the previous school record.

Seth Hammon was Lander's fourth finisher, placing 49th in 20:54.89, while Griffin Freeman rounded out the scoring five in 56th at 21:17.54. Bryan Wright finished 64th in 22:24.88.

The Bearcats finished fifth in the team standings with 143 points.

Lander returns to action Sept. 25 at the Tryon Collegiate Invitational.
