HARROGATE, Tenn. - The Lander Field Hockey Team got goals from five different players and held Lincoln Memorial to less than ten shots all game as the Bearcats would dominate for a 7-0 win. The win marked the first for the program as well as the first for Head Coach
Robbert Schenk.
Sophie Schmitz would get the scoring started five minutes into the game as she would slot home a goal for the second consecutive game. The Bearcats would be on the front foot the whole first half as they would hold an wide shot advantage over the Railsplitters.
Justina Bossa would double the lead in the second quarter to give the Bearcats a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
The Bearcats would put their foot on the gas in the second half as they would score five goals in the final 30 minutes of action.
Lieke Toma would make it 3-0 less than two minutes into the third quarter off the assist fromÂ
Anieke Beers. Bossa would add her second goal of the game near the end of the third quarter from the assist from
Emma Allon.
In the fourth quarter,
Aniek Vreeken would score her first goal of her career off the assist from Allon to make it 5-0, Beers would add a goal of her own from the assist from Vreeken to make it 6-0, and
Lauren Punt would close the scoring with a goal off the assist from Bossa to make it 7-0.
The Bearcats will be back in action on Tuesday, September 27th as they will travel to Gaffney, S.C. to take on the Limestone Saints.
