Tom Marriott named PBC Player of The Year - Four Bearcats named to the all-PBC team

GREENWOOD – Just a day before the PBC semifinals, the conference office has announced the men's soccer all-PBC teams.

In total, four Bearcats were named to the PBC all-conference team. The Bearcats have placed at least four players on the all-conference team in each of Lee Squires' seven seasons in Greenwood.

Tom Marriott headlined the action for Lander, as he was named PBC Player of The Year in back-to-back seasons. The last time Lander won back-to-back Player of The Year awards was 2005-06 and 2008-09. He becomes only the fourth player in PBC history to repeat as the PBC Player of the Year and the first since 2014

The senior midfielder led the Bearcats with 16 goals, 10 assists and 42 points. He is second in the PBC for goals scored and total assists while leading the conference in total points. In the 16 games Marriott started, he scored in 12 of them. Marriott is currently ranked among the top-10 in Div. II in total goals, assists and points.

This is the 10th season a Bearcat has been named a PBC Player of the Year with seven different players.

Joining Marriott on the PBC first team is Max McNulty. McNulty was second on the team in goals and points with 11 goals and 28 points. He was tied for third in assists with six on the season. McNulty began the season with goals in six of the first seven games.

The Bearcats also saw Marco Gueli and Kevin Rubaszewski named to the PBC second team.

Gueli scored five goals and eight assists as the former PBC Freshman of The Year finished with 18 points. Gueli was second on the team in assists while ranking third among the Bearcats in goals and points.

Rubaszewski scored four goals along with six assists and 14 points in his first season at Lander. The freshman midfielder had multi-assist games against Newberry and Erskine this season.

Lander also saw the Elite 16 award make its way back to Greenwood, as Samuel Maardh took home the honors this season. Jonah Miller was given the award last season. The Elite 16 award is traditionally presented to the player with the highest overall cumulative GPA competing in the conference tournament.

Lander takes on Clayton State on Friday, November 12 in the PBC semifinals down in Evans, Ga., at 2 pm
