GREENWOOD----The Lander and No. 7 USC Upstate men's soccer teams met in a classic game Wednesday night and battled to a 1-1 tie in a Peach Belt Conference contest.
Lander moves to 8-2-2 overall and 2-0-1 in the PBC, while USC Upstate is now 8-1-2, 2-0-1.
All-American Luke Ibbetson, the PBC leader in goals and points scored, gave Lander a 1-0 lead just 1:26 into the match on an assist from Antti Suoniemi.
USC Upstate's Liam Slack tied the game at 1-1 on a penalty kick at 81:03.
The two teams battled through two 10-minute overtimes without scoring a goal.
Both teams had 15 shots, while USC Upstate led in corner kicks, 8-4. Lander goalkeeper Garrett Daum recorded five saves, while the Spartans' Terence McGee had three.
