Lander Fires on All Cylinders in Three-Set Win Over Georgia College

GREENWOOD - On a spirited Halloween night at Finis Horne Arena, the Lander volleyball team delivered a commanding performance, sweeping Georgia College 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-8) in Peach Belt Conference play. The win avenged a five-set loss to the Bobcats earlier this season in Milledgeville.

The Bearcats (15-7, 7-3 PBC) controlled the match from start to finish, hitting an impressive .360 as a team while holding the Bobcats to just .036. Lander's consistency at the net and in serve-receive proved overwhelming, especially in the third set, where the Bearcats limited Georgia College to zero kills and a -.030 hitting percentage to close out the sweep.

Set one set the tone as Lander hit .378 behind 16 kills and just two errors, before following up with a .400 performance in the second frame. The Bearcats dominated the final set 25-8 behind an explosive offensive attack.

Junior setter Enisilina Savelio had a huge night offensively for Lander, recording 31 assists while hitting .500 with six kills and two aces. Katie Miller led all attackers with 12 kills, hitting .259 and adding three assists, two aces, and a block solo for a 15-point performance.

Karson Browning added eight kills on a .467 hitting percentage and contributed five blocks, while Alyssa Tegeler was nearly flawless at the net with six kills on a .625 clip. Defensively, Emmi Cheek anchored the back row with 13 digs and two aces, helping Lander control the tempo from start to finish.

Lander outperformed Georgia College across the board, finishing with 43 kills to the Bobcats' 19, 39 assists to 18, and 41 digs to 28. The Bearcats also tallied eight aces and eight blocks in the win.

The victory keeps Lander towards the top of the Peach Belt standings as the regular season winds down. The Bearcats will look to extend their hot streak when they return to action Saturday, Nov. 1, in a rematch with the Bobcats at home. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
