Bearcats complete another sweep over Bobcats to cap dominant weekend at home

GREENWOOD - The Lander Bearcats capped off a strong weekend at Finis Horne Arena on Saturday afternoon, defeating Georgia College 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-20) for the second straight day. With the win, Lander improved to 16-7 overall and 8-3 in Peach Belt Conference play, while Georgia College dropped to 12-13 and 2-9.

The victory marked Lander's eighth straight win and extended the team's set streak to 15 in a row, highlighting the Bearcats' consistency and momentum as they head into the final stretch of the regular season.

The Bearcats opened with a commanding first set, hitting .458 as a team while limiting the Bobcats to just one kill and a -.250 percentage. Lander maintained its rhythm throughout the match, finishing with a .348 hitting mark and 43 total kills compared to Georgia College's 22.

Katie Miller led the Bearcats with 12 kills on a .385 hitting percentage, followed by Karson Browning with seven hitting .385 as well. Enisilina Savelio tallied 32 assists and 11 digs for a double-double performance, while Ryleigh Willard contributed six kills and a career-high six service aces to round out a balanced team effort.

Defensively, the Bearcats held a 45-33 advantage in digs and totaled four team blocks. Amelia May added six kills on an efficient .667 clip and paired with Savelio for two blocks apiece.

After a dominant opening set, Lander stayed in control through the second and third frames despite a late push from Georgia College. Strong serving and consistent offensive execution helped the Bearcats close out both matches of the weekend sweep without dropping a set.

Lander will now turn its attention to Augusta University next weekend for a pair of Peach Belt Conference road matches. The Bearcats face the Jaguars on Friday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m., before closing the weekend on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 4 p.m.
