Allen Leads Bearcats in Season Debut at Converse Kick-Off

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Competing at the Milliken Arboretum for the second time in as many races, the Lander Men's Cross Country team took almost four minutes off their team average from their season-opening race two weeks ago en route to a 12th place finish at the Converse Kick-Off on Saturday morning.

The Bearcats had a team average of 29:23 as compared to a 33:21 average at the Upstate Eye Opener two weeks ago on the same course.

Zander Allen made his season debut and would lead the Blue and Gold by finishing the 8k race in 27:22.5. Noah Chevalier was next across the line for Lander as he finished under 28 minutes as well with a time of 27:56.7.

Ethan Waites and Riley Bird were the next duo across the line finishing in times of 31:42.1 and 32:42.4.

Trey Sloan rounded out the scoring five for the Men of Lander with a time of 40:16.5.

Jonathan Campbell and Nathan Purvis rounded out the pack of seven runners with times of 42:47.2 and 43:56.6.

The Bearcats return to action on September 30th at the Akiah McMillan Invitational hosted by Columbia College in Columbia, S.C.
