GAINESVILLE, Ga. - The Lander Men's Cross Country team opened postseason competition on Saturday morning as they placed sixth at the Peach Belt Conference Cross Country Championships. The sixth place finish ties the best finish for the men's program since the reinstatement of the sport back in 2017.
Augusta University emerged with their fifth straight PBC title by taking six of the top ten spots in the 8-kilometer race.
Zander Allen was the first Lander runner across the line in a time of 27:13.3. He was followed closely by
Jonathan Nunez in a PR rime of 27:32.6.
Noah Chevalier finished in 29:15.4 and he was followed by the duo of
Riley Bird and
Ethan Waites to round out the scoring five. Bird finished in 30:53.3 and Waites finished in 31:21.8.
Trey Sloan and
Nathan Purvis finished out the lineup for Lander finishing in times of 35:39.4 and 40:33.4.
The Bearcats return to the course for the final time this fall in two weeks as they compete at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships at the same course.
