Men's lacrosse welcomes Montevallo to begin conference action on Saturday

GREENWOOD – The Lander men's lacrosse team opens conference action at home as it welcomes the Montevallo Falcons to Van Taylor Stadium on Saturday.

STORYLINES

  • Lander is coming off a 20-7 victory over Lees-McRae in its most recent contest.
  • The Bearcats fired home eight goals in the final frame after leading 12-6 after the first three periods. Adam Mather led all goal scorers with five goals. Tyler Kralj was second with three goals.
  • Mather was named the PBC Player of The Week after scoring seven-goal along with six assists and 13 points against Barton and Lees-McRae. Lander was taken the PoTW award three times this season.
  • Mather had nine of his 13 points against the Bobcats. Jake Watson went 14-of-15 in faceoffs against the Bobcats and led the Bearcats in ground balls with seven. Seven Bearcats caused one turnover each.
  • Liam Mackay made six saves in 30 minutes of work while Nicholas Paige made five saves in 22 minutes of action.
  • Lander is outscoring its opponents 167-110 so far this season.
  • Lander leads the PBC as a team with 167 goals. Montevallo is second with 127.

  • Thomas Vaesen leads the Falcons with 26goals and 37 points. Trevanye is second in goals (21) and points (33) while tied for the lead in assists with 12 with Friant.

  • Little has played and started in all 10 games for Montevallo. Playing in over 562 minutes this season he's made 136 saves while holding a 4-3 record.
