MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Seeking a return to the Peach Belt Division Finals for the second year in a row, Lander men's lacrosse lost to Flagler 15-11 on Friday night at the Montevallo Lacrosse Stadium in the semifinal round of the Peach Belt Tournament.
Playing in the No. 2 versus No. 3 game, the third-seeded Bearcats kept the game close in the first half but struggled to find offense in the third quarter as the Saints gained separation.
It was 10-7 Flagler coming out of halftime before the Saints scored four unanswered goals to make it a seven-goal game.
Cameron Festi put an end to the run with 2:30 to go in the third, and
Levi Roest added one before the end of the quarter for a 14-9 score.
Goals were in short supply for either side in the fourth quarter, with the Bearcats scoring two to the Saints' one.
10 different players scored a goal for Lander and 12 were in the point column.
Will Polhill found a goal for the first time in his young career while also causing a season-best four turnovers.
Breton Crewe played his role expertly by winning 14 of 22 face-offs (63.6%).
Colton Davis won 4 of 6 and scored his third goal of the season; Lander won 19 of 29 face-offs in all.
