GREENWOOD - Junior forward Makaila Cange has been named CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-District, the organization announced Thursday.
The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Basketball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second-and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.
Cange currently has a 3.65 GPA in Biology and averages 20.2 points per game and 10.3 rebounds per game for the Bearcats. She leads the Peach Belt Conference in five different statistical categories. She is also second in the country in field-goal percentage, eighth in offensive rebounds per game, and ninth in double-doubles.
