KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The Lander men's golf team opens its spring competition schedule Monday at the Newberry Invitational in Kiawah Island, S.C.

STORYLINES

• The three-round, par 72 tournament is held at The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. The first two rounds are played on Monday, and the third and final round begins Tuesday morning.

• In four fall tournaments, Lander won the Kiawah Island Invitational in September, took home fifth at the Jay Jennison Cup, placed 15th at the Copperhead Championship, and wrapped up the fall schedule with a 10th place finish at the Queens University Fall Invitational.

• The Bearcats were led by freshman Valentin Peugnet and freshman Chris Fortenberry in the fall. Peugnet led the team in stroke average at 72.64 while Fortenberry was right behind him with a stroke average of 73.00.

• Senior Jon Parker won his first collegiate individual title at the Kiawah Island Invitational.

• The Bearcats' starting lineup for the Newberry Invitational will consist of Valentin Peugnet, Jon Parker, Maxime Legros, Chris Fortenberry, and Conor Cull.
