Bearcats take 2nd at Patriot Fall Classic, conclude fall season

NINETY SIX, S.C. – In their final tournament of the 2025 fall season, the Lander men's golf team finished runner-up to Wingate in the Patriot Fall Classic at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor.

The Bearcats, who are ranked eighth in the country, finished at 13-under-par. The No. 9 Bulldogs were -30. 24th-ranked Saint Leo finished two shots back of Lander, as the trio were the only teams under par.

Belmont Abbey (+4) and Palm Beach Atlantic (+5) capped the top-five.

Freshman Filip Yngfalk continued his stellar play at the outset of his collegiate career, finishing at 10-under in third place. The Sweden-native was at or near the top of the leaderboard throughout the duration of the tournament and sank 16 birdies while shooting 67, 69, 70.

He tied for the tournament lead in par-4 scoring average at 3.90 and -3 overall.

Edward Rahm enjoyed a return to form as he finished six-under while tying for fifth. Rahm shot 69, 68, 73 with nine birdies and an eagle on the 515-yard par-5 8th in the first round.

Rahm had the fourth-most pars (40) in the field of 112 competitors, and cleaned up on the par-5s, shooting eight-under with a 4.33 stroke average.

Noah Curdt tied for 22nd at even-par 216. His scorecard read 75, 71, 70, and he racked up 14 birdies during the tournament.

Next on the board for the Bearcats was Cathal Penney (+4) in a tie for 36th. The junior carded six birdies this week.

Brady Duval was next amongst the starting group at +6.

Lander also had seven individuals competing in the tournament, led by freshman Garrett Gillespie (-1) who made 12 birdies and had scores of 71, 75, 69. Aaron Lin was a shot back at even-par with 10 birdie-makes.

Leo Degerlund was +4 after closing with a 72 in a final round that included an eagle on hole No. 8. Joining the fray by going low in the final round was Elijah Rohas-Smith. He recorded a rare albatross on the par-5 18th playing at 549 yards, and wound-up with a 68 today.

Samuel Guigui-Baruchel was +9, followed by Sam Durbin (+25) and Vaughn Brodowski (+40).
