ORLANDO, Fla. – Lander men's golf newcomer
Brady Duval competed alongside his father and former PGA Tour Major Champion David Duval on Saturday and Sunday at the PNC Championship at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club.
This year marked the eighth time the duo has played together in the family-centric tournament dating back to 2018.
The annual event features 20 past major champions on the PGA Tour, LPGA or PGA Tour Champions, in addition to past winners of THE PLAYERS Championship. Their partner must be a family member and must not hold any playing status on a professional Tour. The field is determined by the PGA Tour Champions.
Team Duval finished in sole possession of sixth place at 24-under 120 in the 36-hole scramble format that was comprised of 20 pairings in all.
Matt Kuchar and son, Cameron, won the tournament with a record 33-under 111 score that was seven strokes clear of the field.
"The time spent with family… that's the main focus, is just having fun, laughing and smiling," Brady said during a post-round press conference on Sunday.
The Duvals made birdie on 24 holes, which was tied for second-most in the field.
"It is a team game," David said of the format. "It's just kind of covering your partner when you're playing, realizing that at times you're (going to) take care of business before I hit or he (Brady) hit."
David continued, "I think that's some of the fun of it – really just being out there and trying to figure it out and realizing I've got to count on him (Brady) at times when I've messed up, and vice versa."
When asked what it meant to be able to play with his father, Brady shared:
"We play a lot together, do fun little matches, compete against each other. But (the PNC Championship) gives us an opportunity to compete together."
Brady and the Bearcats will resume their 2025-26 season with Lincoln Memorial's Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate at St. Johns Golf & Country Club in St. Augustine on Feb. 9-10.
