GREENWOOD – A sunny week at Greenwood Country Club saw the Lander men's golf team finish with a share of eighth place in the Lander Greenwood Men's Invitational.
The Bearcats tied Southern Wesleyan and Emmanuel at two-over par.
No. 1 ranked Grand Valley State brought the winners' trophy back to Michigan with a final score of 20-under. Flagler and Findlay tied for second place at -17.
Barton (-4) and Anderson (-3) were also in the Top 5.
Freshman
Garrett Gillespie produced his best three-round score and finish this season in leading the Bearcats at -5 in a tie for 10th in a field of 104 players.
He shot 72-69-70 with 10 birdies, one eagle and 39 pars. Gillespie was -3 on par 4s – the fourth-best mark in the field.
Aaron Lin showed consistency by shooting 71-73-71. He tied for 25th at one-under and carded eight birdies, an eagle and 36 pars. Lin was third in the field on par 3s at two-under.
Edward Rahm (+2) sandwiched a 70 in between a pair of 74s to take home a T-36th result. He made 10 birdies, one eagle and racked up 32 pars.
Noah Curdt had his lowest score today (73) and was +10 for the week. He wound up making birdie on 11 holes to go along with 25 pars.
Filip Yngfalk was the last of the scorers for LU at +12, though he did improve substantially from an 81 in the first round to a middle-round 74 and final round 73. Yngfalk had seven birdies and 32 pars.
