ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Lander men's golf finished seventh in this year's Peach Belt Conference Championship at The King & Bear Golf Course at World Golf Village that took place Sunday through Tuesday.
The Bearcats finished at +43, 907 for the week. Seventh-ranked Georgia Southwestern won the tournament for the second time in the last five years with a final tally of -5, 859. The Hurricanes were nine shots ahead of second-place Columbus State, the No. 10 team in the country.
No. 11 USCA (+7) was three shots back of the Cougars in third. 18th-ranked USC Beaufort, last year's champions, finished fourth at +24, one shot ahead of No. 12 North Georgia in fifth.
Noah Curdt paced the Bearcats in 19th place at seven-over-par. Curdt made the second-most birdies in the field (13) and was tied for third after an opening-round 69. He recovered from an 81 in the second round with a 73 today.
Curdt improved by 16 positions over last year, his only other PBC Championship appearance.
Freshman
Filip Yngfalk tied for 27th in his tournament debut at +13. He shot 76/77/76 and made seven birdies and 32 pars.
Cathal Penney (+15) carded scores of 75/80/76 with six birdies and 30 pars as he finished 33rd. The Irishman eagled the long, 546-yard 14th during the second round.
One spot and a stroke behind him was senior
Edward Rahm. Rahm put his first two rounds behind him and ended with a 71 this afternoon. Five of his seven birdies came in that round.
Aaron Lin posted scores of 75 and 82 in the first two rounds before
Elijah Rohas-Smith took over in his stead for the final round. Rohas-Smith answered the bell by posting a 72, the third-lowest round of the tournament for the Bearcats.
