ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The No. 7-ranked Lander men's golf team finished in second place Sunday in the three-day, 54-hole Peach Belt Conference Championship at the par-72, 6,939-yard Slammer & Squire Course at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla. 

The Bearcats held a four-stroke lead at the conclusion of the second round after shooting a two-over 290 on both Friday and Saturday. Lander struggled through the final day of the tournament, however, shooting an 11-over 299 to finish the PBC Championship with a 15-over 879. 

USC Aiken won the team title with a six-over 870, shooting an impressive two-under 286 on Sunday to overtake Lander and claim the victory.  

Lander was followed by: 3. Young Harris 881; 4. Georgia College 884; 5. Columbus State 886; T-6. Armstrong State and Flagler 890; 8. Clayton State 894; 9. Georgia Southwestern 901; 10. Montevallo 905; and 11. North Georgia 923. 

Although Lander is still searching for its first PBC title, the Bearcats have now placed in the top-five in four of their 12 total attempts, including each of the past two seasons. 

North Georgia's Matt Elliott was the individual low medalist, finishing the tournament with a four-under 212.

Individually for Lander, Michal Pospisil (74-68-76) tied for sixth with 218; Conor Richards (71-76-72) tied for eighth with 219; Michael Brodie (75-73-75) and Jon Parker (74-73-76) tied for 20th with 223; and James Bartlett (71-79-79) tied for 40th with 229.
