Box Score GREENWOOD – Lander forward Breshay Johnson was named the Peach Belt Conference women's basketball Player of the Week it was announced by the league office today.
Johnson picks up her third weekly honor this season after leading the Bearcats to a pair of wins last week. The junior from Hopkins, S.C., averaged 21.0 points per game, shooting .667 from the field, to go with 8.5 rebounds. She scored 20 or more in both games, extending her 20+ scoring streak to three. Johnson scored 20 on 5-for-9 shooting and 10-for-12 free throws in a big division win at USC Aiken. She then scored 22 with nine rebounds, hitting 7-for-9 from the field, in a win over Francis Marion. For the week, she added a pair of steals and two assists along with a block. Johnson now leads the PBC in scoring with 18.6 ppg (19.2 against conference opponents), field goal percentage and offensive rebounds. She is third in the league in rebounding.
