PEMBROKE - Lander topped UNC Pembroke and Claflin in straight sets on Saturday afternoon.

The Bearcats opened the day with a 25-22, 25-23, 25-11 win over PBC-foe UNC Pembroke, then defeated Claflin, 25-18, 25-12, 25-15.

Against UNC Pembroke, Kendall Korte registered 16 kills and nine digs, while Ali Kirk added 33 assists, 14 digs and a pair of kills. Halle Dotson recorded 12 kills and Julia Ferreira-Alves led the Bearcats with 17 digs.

UNC Pembroke was led by Nicole Mathews (15 kills, 10 digs), Ka'Asha Jefferies (14 digs), Cayce Bell (10 digs), and Alicia Paeplow (30 assists).

Against Claflin, Korte recorded 10 kills and six digs, while Tarryn Angermeier added 12 kills and a dig. Julia Ferreira-Alves led the team with 11 digs and Dotson registered nine kills.

Claflin was paced by Kiara Johnson (six kills), Jhi Piper-Murles (nine digs), and Chymaine Guinyard (four kills, four digs).

Lander improves to 10-2 overall, 2-0 in the confernce, and returns home on Friday for a conference match against Georgia College.
