LU's Pospisil wins medalist honors at Pirate Invitational

POOLER, Ga. - Lander's Michal Pospisil won individual medalist honors in a playoff Tuesday and lead the Bearcat men's golf team to a 10th-place finish at the two-day, three-round Armstrong Pirate Men's Invitational hosted by Armstrong State University at the par-72, 7,016-yard Savannah Quarters Country Club. Fifteen teams competed in the tournament.

Pospisil (72-69-74), a sophomore from Unhost, Czech Republic, and Wingate's Benedict Gebhardt (70-70-75) both shot 215 in regulation, but Pospisil claimed the victory with a birdie on the first playoff hole.

Lander's Neal Todd (77-73-78) tied for 32nd with 228, Jordan Ainley (73-79-78) tied for 42nd with 230, James Bartlett (73-80-86) tied for 65th with 239, and Rob Prior (76-79-86) tied for 70th with 241.

Nova Southeastern won the team title with a low 868 and was followed by: 2. Wingate 877, 3. Flagler 880, 4. St. Leo 885, 5. Lynn and West Georgia 886, 7. CSU-Monterey Bay 890, 8. Georgia College 897, 9. Florida Southern 900, 10. Lander 910, 11. Armstrong 915, 12. North Alabama 923, 13. Coker 927, 14. Clayton State 319, and 15. North Georgia 956.
