GREENWOOD – Breshay and Sannayyiah Johnson scored a combined 43 points and two Lander players posted double-doubles as the Lady Bearcats routed non-conference opponent St. Augustine's University 107-62 Saturday afternoon at Horne Arena.

Lander, which forced 38 turnovers and attempted almost 100 shots from the floor (97), improved to 3-1. The Falcons fell to 0-3.

Breshay Johnson scored 24 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, while teammate Jada Wallace also had a double-double with 18 points and a game-high 11 boards.

Sannayyiah Johnson scored 15 of her 19 points in the first half, Ty'Hesha Reynolds amassed 13 points, five assists and four steals, and Ashleigh Zandi added 11 points for the Lady Bearcats.

Bre Crum shared Lander game-high honors with five assists and four steals, while Mylea McKenith also had five assists.

Lander made 43 of 97 shots from the floor (44 percent), 15 of 19 free throws (79 percent) and six of 32 from 3-point range (19 percent). The Lady Bearcats only committed nine turnovers.

Sycoya Dorsey led St. Augustine's with a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Ke-Ashe Lee also had 17 points and eight rebounds, Khadijah Payne scored 16 points, and Ashanti Reid added nine rebounds.

The Falcons had a 49-46 edge on the boards.

St. Augustine's made 18 of 49 shots from the floor (37 percent), 26 of 38 free throws (68 percent) and zero for eight from behind the arc.

St. Augustine's Dorsey made a layup to bring the visitors within 14-7 with 4:44 left in the first period. But Lander closed the first quarter with a 19-4 run, taking a 33-11 lead into the second period.

Johnson scored eight of the 19 points while Sannayyiah Johnson and Lea Petit came off the bench and scored the final five points of the first quarter.

Reynolds opened the second period with a 3-pointer and a layup off Crum's steal, giving the Lady Bearcats their biggest lead of the first half at 38-11. Lee's free throws pulled St. Augustine's within 38-19 with 5:28 until halftime.

Sannayyiah Johnson and McKenith made 3s as Lander extended its lead to 43-20 and 46-22. Zandi, who opened the game with a pair of 3s, closed the half with a basket to give the Lady Bearcats a 57-29 lead at the break.

The Johnsons had a combined 31 points in the first half on 12 of 18 shooting as Breshay had 16 points and Sannayyiah 15.

Crum's steal and layup increased Lander's lead to 67-30 with 7:23 to go in the third quarter. The lead grew to 41 on Zandi's three-point play, making it 74-33 with 3:26 left.

Wallace scored Lander's final eight points of the third period, increasing the lead to 88-37 going into the last quarter.

The Lady Bearcats hit the 90-point mark on Ariel Parker's steal and layup, making it 90-45 with 6:45 left.

McKenith's put-back upped the advantage to 101-57 with 2:02 to go.
