Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. - The Lander women's basketball team won its fourth straight game -- and its third consecutive with 100-plus points -- Sunday afternoon when the Lady Bearcats defeated St. Augustine's University, 106-89, in a non-conference game in Emery Gymnasium.
Lander improves to 4-2 overall, while the Lady Falcons drop to 2-3.
The Lady Bearcats placed five players in double figures led by Aarika Judge's 19 points. Judge, who connected on 7-of-17 floor shots, including 5-of-12 threes, also had four assists. Portia McCray (8-of-10 from the field) tallied 18 points and seven rebounds; Breshay Johnson (7-of-10) had 18 points; Kayla West 11 points and five assists; and Ty'hesha Reynolds a double-double with 10 points and 11 assists.
Jeanne-Marie Wilson led St. Augustine's with a game-high 25 points after making 9-of-12 from the field and 7-of-12 from the free throw line. Regime McCombs added 20 points, Shanika Harris 16 and Porscha Walton 15. Terri Jacobs had a team-high seven rebounds for the Falcons.
Lander, which led 49-46 at halftime, was 41-of-78 from the field (52.6 percent), including 10-of-25 threes (40 percent), and 14-of-26 from the foul line (53.8 percent).
St. Augustine's, which won the rebound battle, 43-39, connected on 28-of-59 floor shots (47.5 percent), including 8-of-19 three pointers (42.1 percent), and 25-of-38 free throws (65.8 percent).
The Lady Bearcats will next travel to Wingate University for a 7 p.m., non-conference game on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
