MORROW, Ga. – Lander's Alexis Armstrong posted her sixth double-double of the season and two other players netted double figures Saturday afternoon as the Lady Bearcats women's basketball team defeated Southern Poly, 69-64, in a non-conference game at the Heritage Bank Classic hosted by Clayton State University.

Lander improves to 6-5 overall, while Southern Poly drops to 6-4.

Armstrong scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while teammate Jamelia James netted a game-high 21 points and Ty'hesha Reynolds added 13 points. Portia McCray had eight points and eight rebounds and Alyssia Watkins grabbed seven rebounds.

Shana Ward led Southern Poly with 16 points, while Erica Turner added 11 points, Sarah Ogoke had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Arnissa Galloway grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds.

Lander, which led at halftime, 31-24, made 25-of-67 field goals (37.3 percent), 7-of-19 threes (36.8 percent) and 12-of-26 free throws (46.2 percent).

Southern Poly was 19-of-54 from the floor (35.2 percent), 5-of-13 from the three-point line (38.5 percent) and 21-of-30 from the foul line (70 percent).

Southern Poly outrebounded Lander, 53-40.
