CHARLESTON – Alyssa Frye and Erin Hall scored 19 and 18 points respectively to lead the College of Charleston women's basketball team to an 81-54 exhibition game victory over Lander Sunday afternoon at TD Arena.
Lander was led by Portia McCray and Alexis Armstrong who both posted double-doubles. McCray had 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Armstrong had 11 points and 17 rebounds. Kayla West added 12 points for the Lady Bearcats.
The Lady Bearcats connected on 23-of-88 field goals for 26.1 percent, including 3-of-27 threes for 11.1 percent. Lander also made 5-of-15 free throws for 33.3 percent.
College of Charleston, which led 40-25 at halftime, made 31-of-80 field goals for 38.8 percent, including 8-of-22 threes for 36.4 percent. The Lady Cougars also connected on 11-of-18 free throws for 61.1 percent.
Lander will open the regular-season portion of its schedule Nov. 8-9 when it plays in the Holley Tractor/Crescent Automotive Conference Challenge hosted by USC Aiken at the Convocation Center. Lander will play Mount Olive at 5 p.m. Friday, and Anderson University at 2 p.m. Saturday.
