PEMBROKE, N.C. - The UNC Pembroke volleyball team handed Lander a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference loss Friday night by defeating the Bearcats, 27-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-20.
UNCP improves to 14-6 overall and 4-3 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 8-11, 2-7.
For Lander, Candace LaRocca, Magi Nottingham and Melissa McCracken posted double-doubles. LaRocca had 39 assists and 12 digs, Nottingham 13 kills and 14 digs, and McCracken 18 kills and 10 digs. Courtney Simmons and Lindsey Everhart added 11 and 10 kills respectively, while Madison Kubal added 25 digs and Abbey Focht 12.
For UNCP, Rebecca Morgan had 17 kills and 20 digs, Tiara Anderson 16 kills, Heather Bolwerk 43 assists, and Marissa Baker 17 digs. Rachel Young added seven kills, three solo blocks and four block assists.
The Braves had a .242 hitting percentage compared to Lander's .181.
The Bearcats will face Francis Marion at 2 p.m. Saturday in a Peach Belt Conference match.
