VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Lander golf team is in eighth place of 17 teams Sunday after the first round of the Southeastern Collegiate hosted by Valdosta State University at the par-72 Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.

Valdosta State leads the team competition after the first round with a low 290, and is followed by: 2. Florida Southern, West Florida and Florida Tech 293, 5. Georgia College 296, 6. North Alabama 298, 7. Barry 300, 8. Lander 303, 9. Lynn and Nova Southeastern 307, 11. West Georgia 310, 12. Coker 311, 13. St. Leo 312, 14. Tampa and Eckerd 314, 16. Delta State 322, and 17. Rollins 327.

Lander's Bryan Newton is tied for 14th with a team low 74, while Billy Belair is tied for 22nd at 75, Cooper Tinsley and Seb Brown are tied for 37th at 77 and Patrick Wilson is tied for 78th with an 82.
