CONOVER, N.C.----The Lander University golf team finds itself in first place after the first day of the two-day AccuSport Intercollegiate sponsored by Lenoir-Rhyne College at the Rock Barn and Golf Spa.

Lander shot a low team score of 305 to lead the 10-team field after the first day.

Pfeiffer University shot a 312 for second place, followed by 3. Lenoir-Rhyne 313, 4. Barton 321, 5. Limestone 325, 6. Wingate and Tusculum 330, 8. Catawba 335, 9. Lenoir-Rhyne "B" 339 and 10. Mars Hill 347.

For Lander, Jake Amos shot a 37-37=74, good enough for second place in the individual competition. Other Lander golfers, with place and scores, are: 3. Patrick Wilson 38-37=75; 4. Cooper Tinsley 38-38=76; Charlie Hoyle 44-36=80; and Billy Belair 38-45=83.

Pfeiffer's David Harris shot a 37-36=73 to lead the race for individual medalist honors.
