USC Aiken pulls away from Lady Bearcats in second half

AIKEN, S.C.----The USC Aiken women's basketball team shot 55 percent from the field in the second half Saturday night and pulled away from Lander to score a 63-55 Peach Belt Conference victory at The Courthouse.

USC Aiken improves to 15-8 overall and 7-5 in the PBC, while Lander drops to 12-11, 6-6.

Tiara Good, the PBC leading scorer, led the Bearcats with 24 points on 7-of-13 field goals (3-of-8 three pointers) and 7-of-8 free throws. Stephanie Ponds added 11 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots and Bryony Crouch scored 10 points.

USCA was led by Jordan Thomas and Kendra Chandler, who scored 14 points each, while Meredith Legg netted 13. Nola Grant led the Lady Pacers in rebounds with 11.

USCA, which led 23-22 at halftime, connected on 26-of-65 field goals for 38.5 percent, 4-of-10 three pointers for 40 percent and 9-of-13 free throws for 69.2 percent.

Lander made 16-of-24 floor shots for 36.4 percent, 5-of-15 three pointers for 33.3 percent and 18-of-23 free throws for 78.3 percent.
