GREENWOOD---Stephanie Ponds, a 6-1, junior center from Bethune, S.C., was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week for women's basketball after her performances last week it was announced today by the conference office.

Ponds averaged 19.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in two games for the Bearcats last week. She began with 20 points and three boards in a win over Francis Marion, then came back with 19 points and 13 rebounds in a three-point loss to GCSU. Ponds hit 50 percent (16-32) of her shots from the field and also averaged 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 70 percent from the line.

Ponds is currently ranked sixth in the PBC in scoring and fourth in rebounding. She is also eighth in the league in field-goal percentage and fourth in blocked shots.
